About the author

Born and raised in Honolulu, Rodney Loo now lives in Kentfield, California, just outside of San Rafael. Mr. Loo serves as the Senior Vice President for Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, a position he has held since 1987. He joined the company after completing his Bachelor of Arts in Communications at the University of Colorado Boulder. He went on receive the highest level of training offered by Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, earning the distinction of Family Wealth Director; this prestigious title is only bestowed upon the company’s top 1% of advisors. Rodney Loo has received much recognition for his accomplishments. In both 2008 and 2009, he was included in Barron’s ranking of the Top 100 Wealth Advisors and the San Francisco Business Times’ Top 35 Advisors.

Beyond his work in financial services, Rodney Loo is highly involved in his community. Currently, he contributes to the efforts of Summer Search North Bay, a program dedicated to providing mentoring, summer experiences, and college opportunities to low-income high school students. Mr. Loo serves as the Vice Chairman of the organization’s Board of Directors. Additionally, he spent three years co-chairing the program’s yearly Where Change Begins event. Mr. Loo also serves as a Coach for the Ross Valley Youth Soccer League, the Redwood High School Mountain Biking Team, and the Ross Valley Lacrosse League, and he coaches basketball for the Catholic Youth Organization.

He and his wife have three children. In his spare time, Rodney Loo stays active by biking, telemark skiing, playing soccer, surfing, kiteboarding, golfing, and fly-fishing. He also enjoys playing the guitar and traveling.
